Beverly looked through the photos taken during her trip to Vegas. As she went through her cancer treatment, these photos were her lifeline – a reminder of why she is fighting so hard. She is so glad she made the trip and the appointment with her elite male escort Nick. If she risked losing her health in this fight, these photos gave her hope, reminding her about living with intention and no regrets. They reminded her to fight this cancer with every breath she has.

It has been a difficult treatment protocol, but she is almost at the end. Surgery removed the tumor, and she has had to endure both radiation and chemotherapy to kill any errant cancer cells. This week marks her last chemo treatment. She has been fortunate that the treatment hasn’t made her as sick as they thought it would. Even so, she will be glad when it’s over. And then she has to wait to find out if it worked. The photos have helped her tremendously in this fight, and they will help to get her through the wait.

As Beverly sits in the doctor’s office, she is fidgety and anxious. This is it. It is time to find out if she has won this fight. So much hangs on this 30-minute appointment. Her life really hangs in the balance. As the doctor walks into the room, Beverly tries to read his face, but he’s not giving anything away.

“Beverly, how are you feeling today?” he asks as he sits down across the desk from her.

No sure where this conversation is going, she hesitates. “I feel pretty good. Since the last chemo treatment 3 months ago, I feel like I’m getting stronger as each week passes.”

“Good. I expect that trend will continue,” he replied smiling.

Not exactly sure what his comment meant, Beverly looks at him quizzically. “What are you saying?”

“Your scan from yesterday is clean, Beverly. The removal of the tumor and subsequent treatment appears to have worked. We see no cancer cells.”

Tears streaming down her face, Beverly could have jumped across the desk and hugged him. “Oh, thank God!”

“As you know from your mother’s fight, there is a chance of recurrence, but we caught your tumor much earlier, so the smaller size worked to our advantage since it hadn’t yet spread,” he explained. “I’ll want to see you for a scan every 6 months for 2 years and then annually after that.”

Beverly felt like she was floating as she left the doctor’s office and walked back to her car. The sun shone brighter. The birds chirped louder. All was right with the world again!

Beverly opened her eyes sleepily as the captain announced they would be landing soon. She looked out her window and could see Las Vegas on the horizon. In the three months since she found out she had won her cancer fight (for now), she had anticipated this trip. Actually she had anticipated it the entire time she was going through treatment, hoping she would be alive and well enough to return. Her last trip had a distinct mission in preparing her for the fight. This trip, she would revel in victory and just enjoy.

Nick-Hawk-GigiolosShe checked into the Aria, and once in her room, soaked up the view of the strip from the floor to ceiling windows. There was no holding back this trip. She deserved this! She headed down to the spa for some much deserved relaxation time before seeing Nick again.

Beverly had just finished applying her lipstick when she heard the knock at her door.  Her heart suddenly raced at the thought of Nick waiting on the other side. She looked at herself in the mirror one final time. She looked healthy in a dress that hugged her curves and that pleased her.

As she opened the door, she wondered what Nick would think. She was met with a smile and low whistle.

“Beverly, you look absolutely stunning,” he said as he hugged her. “Welcome back. Are you ready to see the side of Vegas you missed last time?”

“You bet!”  she replied as she sized up Nick in his tight black pants and button up shirt. She had a feeling this would be another memorable trip.

They first stopped at Alize for dinner. They toasted her victory with red wine over appetizers and dinner, chatting like she had never left. Beverly felt so comfortable and romantic as Nick held her hand across the table, stroking her fingers. When he looked at her, he really looked at her, as if she was the only person who existed.

As they strolled to the car, Nick told her he hoped she was ready to kick up her heels in style. She looked in awe when they pulled up to the Wynn.

“Where are we going?” she asked.

“To one of the hottest clubs in town.”

As they walked through the resort, Beverly spied some slot machines. “Can we stop here just for a minute. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at the slots.”

“Whatever my lady wants,” Nick replied with a regal wave of his hand.

Nick Hawk 1Beverly giggled as she strolled through the slot machines, trying to figure out which one to pick. She chose one with an adorable dolphin on it. She settled into the seat, excitement coursing through her veins as she felt Nick lean protectively in against her back and kiss her cheek for luck. With each pull of the handle, she felt more like a giddy school girl. Her balance went up and down in just small increments but it was exhilarating all the same.

“Just one more turn,” she said.

Nick put his hands on her shoulders as she pulled the handle for the last time. Beverly had closed her eyes and leaned back against Nick as he rubbed her shoulders. She was jolted by sudden bells and whistles. Her eyes looked as her machine went crazy with numbers spinning and lights flashing. She won!! She hopped off the stool and hugged Nick, jumping up and down the whole time. He hugged her tight, picked her up and spun her around. As he set her down, he kissed her.  Looked like she was winning in more ways than one!

They collected her winnings and then headed into Tryst, the hottest nightclub at the Wynn. The nightclub was hopping. Beverly felt like a celebrity at a red-carpet event, as they headed to a private table, roped off and surrounded by security. Nick arranged for VIP bottle service. As they watched the dance floor heaving with people, he fed Beverly champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries. He grabbed her hand and led her to the dance floor. As he danced with her, he molded his body to hers. He smelled heavenly, and it made Beverly swoon. Nick was a talented dancer, sexy with an amazing vibe. Beverly instinctively wrapped her body around Nick and danced with him in perfect sync. The heat between them combined with the heat of the lights, had them glistening. The heat, sweat and synchronized movements continued for the rest of the evening until Beverly was spent.

It was nearly 11am by the time Beverly crawled out of bed. Nick had breakfast waiting for her. They looked over the strip in the daylight as they ate and then headed to the pool. It was a fabulous day for soaking up the sunshine while drinking frozen libations. Nick was so attentive that Beverly felt like a princess.

After a few hours of fun in the sun, they headed in to get ready for dinner. Once ready to hit the strip, Nick told Beverly he had a surprise for her. They had dinner at a fabulous sushi bar. Nick was very secretive about his surprise and would even give any hints. Beverly soon found herself being led into an amazing art gallery.

“As you well know, I am a bit of an artist,” Nick said. “I have a special showing in this gallery that I want you to see.”

As they turned the corner, there on the wall Beverly saw Nick’s picture. Surrounding it were several paintings of the photos they had taken on her first trip to Vegas. The title of the showing was simply ‘Living.’ Beverly stood mesmerized, mouth open, until she heard Nick’s voice in her ear.

“Breathtaking, aren’t they? She’s a real fighter.”

Looking at him with tears of joy in her eyes, she could only nod as she threw her arms around his neck to hug him. Somehow he had captured her spirit and fierce will to live perfectly. Nick wrapped his arm around her waist and they strolled around the art gallery for a bit.  When they arrived back at the room, a smaller version of one of the paintings was propped against the wall.

“Looks like you have a souvenir to take home,” Nick said.

Wine in hand, they stood at the window looking down on the strip. It almost looked like a painting, too. Nick turned Beverly around, pressing her back to the glass. She felt his breath on her neck and ear. The window slightly fogged.

“Time to do some more living, Angel.”
