Celeste was a busy executive for a technology company. She had worked hard and climbed the corporate ladder pretty quickly. She had been so busy trying to prove herself that she didn’t have much time for other activities due to her busy schedule. Now that she had reached the Vice President level, that was all beginning to change.

Unfortunately, that didn’t help her right now. Next month is her class reunion back home in Los Angeles, and she doesn’t have a date. On one hand, she looked forward to the reunion so she could catch up with her girlfriends, but on another hand, she dreaded the reunion and seeing her old boyfriend Seth. Her success would impress everyone, but showing up at the reunion alone would have Seth gloating. She definitely didn’t want that! What she needed was a guy to rent just for that night.

Celeste tried to get back to her work, but the thought kept nagging her. She knew it was a crazy idea, but surely there had to be a way to snag a hot date for the reunion who could pretend to be her boyfriend for the night. True to her nature, she decided to research it – after work.

As time passed and the date of her reunion got closer, Celeste started to get both excited and nervous. She didn’t feel prepared to face the majority of people at her class reunion, least of all Seth. What if Anthony couldn’t be convincing as her boyfriend? What if the whole night was awkward with a perfect stranger? Celeste second guessed herself several times and was tempted to cancel her appointment She talked herself out of it by reminding herself that she needed to show everyone there, especially Seth, how successful she was in her career and life (even if part of it was a little lie).

Before Celeste knew it, she was less than a week away from her vacation and the reunion. She was starting to truly get excited now. She kept looking over Anthony’s profile on the Cowboys 4 Angels website and admiring his photos. She hoped he was as amazing in person. She looked forward to reconnecting with her girlfriends who would also be in town for the reunion. It would be nice to catch up. She wondered what they would think if they knew she had hired her date. Oh well, it is what it is. Being successful in her career meant she didn’t have much time for a social life.

The next few days flew by, and before Celeste knew it, she was at her hotel in Los Angeles getting ready for the reunion. She had picked the perfect dress to show off her figure, after all tonight was all about appearances. Looking in the mirror, she had to admit, she cleaned up pretty well. Just then, she heard the knock at the door and smiled. Time to make Seth jealous.

She also filled him in on Seth, their history, and the impression she wanted to make tonight.

Anthony took her hand and said, “You have nothing to worry about. You have accomplished what most could only dream of. You look amazing, and you’ll be the envy of everyone there. Now let’s get this show started.”

As they walked into the ballroom, Anthony put his arm around her waist, kissed her on the cheek, and whispered in her ear. “Time for our grand entrance.”

They went to check in, and before they even left the table, two of Celeste’s girlfriends, Stacy and Jo, came running up to them. The girls squealed and hugged hello. Celeste introduced Anthony to them. As they looked him up and down, Jo said, “Girl, you’ve been keeping some serious secrets. You didn’t even tell us you had a man, let alone one this fine” Celeste laughed as Anthony put his arm around her shoulder and said “Well, thank you for the compliment, Jo.”

They excused themselves to head to the bar. As they walked away, they could hear the two girls whispering in hushed tones. Celeste chuckled.

“Test one complete, and you passed with flying colors.”

After getting their drinks, they mingled comfortably around the room. Celeste felt as if she had known Anthony for years. At times, it even felt as if they were really a couple. They ate dinner at a table with a few of Celeste’s friends. She was amazed at how easily Anthony chatted with them and their spouses/dates.

The reunion was going amazingly well. Anthony was a dream. He held her hand occasionally, whispered in her ear a few times, looked at her with a gleam in his eye, and was a total gentleman. Celeste felt like she had the hottest date at the reunion.

When the band kicked in after dinner, Celeste found out Anthony was not only romantic, but a great dancer as well. As they danced up a storm, she could feel her friends’ eyes on them. As they were coming off the dance floor, Celeste nearly ran headlong into Seth. When she looked up, she caught her breath.

“Celeste. Wow, you look amazing. I wondered if you would be here,” he said.

“Seth, how great to see you. Yea, this is the first time I was able to take vacation from work to make it. Seth, this is my boyfriend Anthony.”

Anthony shook his hand strongly and looked him straight in the eye, “Nice to meet you Seth.” Turning to Celeste, he said, “Honey, let’s get you something to drink after all that dancing. You’ve got me all fired up.”

Arm in arm they strolled to the bar, and Celeste could feel Seth staring at them. “Very nice touch!” she said.

They spent the rest of the night dancing and laughing. They hit it off so well, at times Celeste forgot they weren’t a couple. During a slow song, she leaned into Anthony’s arms and put her head on his chest as they swayed to the music. She could see Seth watching them from the corner of her eye, and it made her smile.

Celeste and Anthony looked like the perfect couple, and it was a perfect evening. Everyone at the reunion truly thought he was her boyfriend. Her friends were impressed, and Seth was jealous. Mission complete.

Heading back to the hotel, Celeste couldn’t believe how well things had gone. She thanked Anthony for his superb performance.

“Celeste, that was no show. I really enjoyed the evening with you. And I’m glad everyone else could see that.”

Riding the elevator to her room, she leaned on Anthony giddy with delight at their success. Little did she know, the night wasn’t over. Once inside the room, Celeste started to slip off her shoes. Anthony insisted she let him help. As he undid the buckle, she felt electricity run up her leg and straight to her core. She felt him trace a line up the outside of her leg, and as he leaned in to her, the rest of the world and any thought of Seth faded away.

Heading home the next afternoon, Celeste had to admit she liked this guys for rent scenario. She would definitely be using Cowboys 4 Angels again to supply a man when she needed one. Next time though, it would be for a real vacation with more time to enjoy him.
