Empowerment. Security. Confidence. These had become foreign concepts to Meredith over the past few years. Beginning in her early childhood, for as long as she could remember, actually, she had always been the daring one of her group of friends. However, somewhere along the way, most likely as a result of the harrowing experience known as her former marriage, she had lost that spark which once was able to ignite a fire in everyone around her. Meredith had completed a grueling divorce trial, and won by a landslide, during which she was forced to sit in the same room day in and day out with the man who had caused her such significant psychological damage that after she won, she still didn’t feel fully at peace or resolved. The middle-aged woman and her powerhouse of an attorney had successfully drained her ex-husband of all of his assets, enabling her to focus on rebuilding her life inside and out.
Now that she was several months post-divorce, Meredith was finally ready to start letting people in, especially men, as she was desperately craving intimacy and a social life, and she was finally willing to take the exciting suggestion her sister made to her, and as she contemplated the very thought she could hear her sister’s voice saying “you need to just reinvent yourself with a male companion!”
Reinventing oneself is no small feat, which rang true for a woman in Meredith’s position, as she felt in order to reinvent herself, she would need to have some sort of clue as to what she was actually attempting to reinvent. Unfortunately, she had become so detached to her own thoughts, feelings and identity, that she hadn’t the faintest clue as to where to begin this process. Maggie, her wild and loving older sister, had all but begged her to take a male companion for a spin during her marriage.
When Meredith would confide in her sister about the problems she and her former husband were having, Maggie would plead with her to take an opportunity to not only see what else is out there, but more importantly to give herself the gift of being treated like a queen, which she so deserved. Finally, Maggie heard the music to her ears she had been awaiting for years, “Mags, I’m ready. Come over so you can help me figure out how to reinvent myself with a male companion!” Before Maggie could hang up the phone she was in her car and backing out of the driveway to head over to Meredith’s home, in an affluent Scottsdale neighborhood.
The moment she laid eyes on him, well, on his photo, that is, Meredith looked at Maggie and said “he’s the one!” Meredith felt something she hadn’t in such a long time, in a part of her soul which she thought had been shut down for good, when she looked at Carter’s photo and profile on the agency’s website. He was everything she had been missing and she could not dial the numbers quickly enough to book her date with Carter! Meredith went over all the details and made sure to impress upon the agency’s representative her most important reasons for booking the date: to be treated like she was the only woman in the world, and to be assisted in figuring out who she is and who she would like to become. Meredith’s journey was about to begin, and she was simultaneously exhilarated and nervous to reinvent herself with a male companion!
Carter arrived promptly and greeted Meredith with a bright smile and a dozen yellow roses, as he said “red roses are so common and cliché, I wanted something extraordinary to show you how special you are” and took her hand. Meredith could not have been more wooed from the very first nanosecond Carter entered her life, and she knew this was just the tip of the iceberg of all of positive changes her life would undergo as a result of spending time with him. Over the next several hours, Meredith noticed herself becoming more and more comfortable in her own skin, as well as continuously wanting more out of the date, out of the night, out of her life. Carter unleashed something inside of her she couldn’t quite put her finger on, but it was strangely familiar, and soon enough she was able to identify the feeling all too easily, she was beginning to feel daring, yet again. Carter was much more than a pretty face and perfectly chiseled body, although those things certainly helped, he was gentle, soothing, intimate, affectionate, flirtatious, funny, kind and always put her first in every decision, action and statement. Before the date was over, Meredith inquired about extending, asa she knew there was more growing, healing and fun to experience, and only with Carter as her male companion and special someone to help reinvent herself!
