Need a Last Minute Date to the Wedding?
In all of the craziness of the past few days, Marlena had completely overlooked the fact that she no longer had a date to her cousin’s extravagant Los Angeles wedding. Her most recent relationship turning out to be an utter failure, the forty-seven year old gorgeous, and single-again music industry mogul held her face up by her chin and stared out of her floor-to-ceiling windows in the Hollywood Hills, wondering what her next move would be. As she desperately tried to tune out the sounds of her freshly-named ex-boyfriend packing up the rest of his belongings upstairs before he not only vacated her home, but more importantly, her life, for good. Just before leaving, the cheating excuse for a boyfriend gave her a valuable parting gift with his last words to her while exiting the house, “well, I guess now you can spend all the time you want with your cowboys!” Marlena needed a last minute date to her cousin’s wedding, and no one could fill the tall order better than an elite male companion!
“Thank you for cheating!” Marlena exclaimed words she never thought she would say, let alone feel, about her former boyfriend. However, her newfound hope, and the better way she was beginning to treat herself and demand to be treated, were all born out of those farewell words and the resulting ideas. Marlena could not fathom the idea of going to a family wedding, especially her family, alone, having to explain to everyone the trainwreck that has become her love life. She could not stomach the high probability of receiving the pitying looks from her significantly less successful and less attractive extended family members, who had enjoyed too many stiff cocktails at the reception. As the moments passed, Marlena’s ambition to make a radical change to her life grew exponentially, with the path to living her best life beginning with not only impressing her family with a flawless male companion, yet more vitally, treating herself with something she has deserved for quite a long time. The trainwrecked love life was about to leave the station, and Marlena was steadfastly unwilling to take that ride again!
While it was all fun and games fantasizing about the looks on her family members’ faces when they feasted their eyes on an unbelievable looking date she was about to bring to the wedding, she realized time was wasting and she still needed to choose a male companion as her date to the wedding! After a longer period of time than she would care to admit, Marlena finally chose a cowboy from the website who she always enjoyed spending time with, and felt completely catered to and cared for by, and moreover, who made her feel weak in the knees. Steven was exactly the perfect selection to be her last minute date to the wedding!
The plans were all made, and while they were organized completely in a rush, in true last-minute, under pressure style, there was not a detail left unaddressed, as Marlena had always performed best under pressure. From the creative fictionalized back story she had produced and sent to the agency for Steven to memorize, to the clothing and schedule, Steven would be entirely ready to serve as Marlena’s dapper, handsome and debonair last minute date to her cousin’s wedding. As the memories of this morning’s morose thoughts of attending the wedding alone faded into nothingness, out of her mind, Marlena finished getting ready just in the nick of time as there was a knock at the door, and Steven had arrived. Over the course of the next several hours, Steven of course did not disappoint for one nanosecond of the evening. Whether it was charming her immediate family members, playing with the children at the reception, dancing closely with Marlena and being nothing but the most attentive and chivalrous date, she was completely smitten with him and could not even imagine not having had to find a last minute date to this wedding! As the night ended, Marlena and Steven parted ways, and Marlena found gratitude for all of the heartache she had felt over the past few days, because without it, her current feelings would not be as sweet as they truly were, and she couldn’t imagine living in a world where she didn’t treat herself to the best, because she knew it was well-deserved. There was no turning back now, for the middle-aged woman on a mission, and this was just the beginning of her metamorphosis!
